George Thomas 'Tom' Davis, Jr.
Mr. George Thomas "Tom" Davis, Jr., 57, of Drew, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Drew United Methodist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Drew United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Seefeld officiating.
Mr. Davis was born in Ruleville on January 3, 1958, to George Thomas Davis, Sr. and Clara Mae Viner Davis. On February 18, 1995, he married Stacy Elizabeth Lee in Pascagoula, MS. After graduating with his Masters degree from Delta State University, Mr. Davis began teaching in Mississippi, including Pascagoula High School, Cleveland High School, North Sunflower Academy, and MS Delta Community College. Tom recently retired from Mississippi after almost 29 years of service. He spent the last year teaching at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock, AR. He was a dedicated teacher, loved and respected by his students, parents, and colleagues. He enjoyed singing and playing the piano, working in the yard, and going to the lake. Tom loved to tinker and was known to fix anything his hands touched or at least give it a good try. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Thomas Davis, Sr.; brother, Chambliss Hayden Collier; and father-in-law, John Kary Lee.
Mr. Davis is survived by his mother, Clara Mae Viner Davis of Drew; spouse, Stacy Lee Davis of Drew; children, Hannah Elizabeth Davis, John Thomas Davis, and Emory Chambliss Davis all of Drew; sisters, Kay Young (Butch) of Marianna, AR and Daphne Matthews (Bill) of Pascagoula, MS; mother-in-law, Sylvia Lee of Pascagoula, MS; sisters-in-law, Deanie Stein of Jacksonville, FL and Keyla Young (David) of Pascagoula, MS; brother-in-law, Timmy Lee of Gautier, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In memory of Mr. Davis, donations may be made to North Sunflower Medical Foundation P.O. Box 369 Ruleville, MS or to Drew United Methodist Church.
