Gladys Wiggs Warrington, 72, passed away, Monday, November 8, 2010 in Marks, MS. Visitation will be from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., November 9, 2010 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland. Services will be 11:00am at the First Belleview Baptist Church in Shelby, MS on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 with Rev. Larry Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in the Shelby Cemetery.
Gladys, also known as âMemeâ to the family, was born June 29, 1938 in Steele, Missouri, to Preston and Edith Wiggs. She married Dr. James E. Warrington, Sr. on July 14, 1956. They were married for 54 years. After her husbandâs service in the Navy in San Diego, CA, moved to Shelby in 1963, where they resided until 2000. Mrs. Warrington was active in her church and community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Warrington is preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Edith Wiggs; son, Ricky Warrington; and grandchild, Ashley Harvey.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Warrington, Sr. of Marks, MS; sons, James E. Warrington, Jr. (Leslie), Ronnie Warrington (Daye) both of Cleveland, Todd Warrington (Peyton) of Oxford; daughter, Mary Anne Alford (Dave) of Gunnison; ten grandchildren, James E. Warrington III (Amanda), Zach Warrington, Dillon Harvey (Claire), Taylor Harvey, Coleman Warrington, Preston Warrington, Davis Warrington, Whitney Warrington, McKenzie Warrington, and Brooke Warrington; a special family member and special care giver, Gloria Cherry.
Pallbearers will be Dillon Harvey, Taylor Harvey, Zach Warrington, Trey Warrington, Coleman Warrington, Preston Warrington and Davis Warrington.
