Mr. Guy Lattrell Cox, 62, of Drew, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Drew Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Drew Baptist Church. Mr. Cox was born in Drew, MS on October 15, 1952, to William Fulton Cox and Gertrude Annie Stringfellow Cox. On October 12, 1970, he married Sherry Lynn Bailey in Tutwiler, MS. He was a member of Drew Baptist Church, worked in the heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration business for 46 years, and owned and operated his family business. He truly enjoyed working and always looked at it as a hobby more than a job. In his free time, Guy loved to spend time with his family and friends more than anything else. He was a very sociable man whose world revolved around those he loved. He was especially crazy about his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fulton Cox and Gertrude Annie Stringfellow Cox; brothers, Jimmie Cox, Jerry Cox, Bobby Cox, Kenneth Cox; and sister-in-law, Judy Cox.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Sherry Bailey Cox of Drew; sons, Tony Cox (Eden) of Atlantic Beach, FL and Michael Lake Cox (Crystal) of Merigold; grandchildren, Jordan Cox of Atlantic Beach, FL, Kori Cox of Springfield, MA, Jakob Cox of Atlantic Beach, FL, Braysier Cox of Merigold, and Easton Cox of Merigold; brother, Billy Cox of Ruleville; sister-in-laws, Bernadette Cox of Navarre Beach, FL and Elaine Cox of Strayhorn, MS; nephews, Rob Cox of Merigold, Bill Cox of Texas, Jeff Cox of Southaven, and Matthew Cox of Cleveland; niece, Leanne Cox of Cleveland; and mother-in-law, Amelia Rusca of Cleveland. Pallbearers will be Rob Cox, Bill Cox, Jeff Cox, Matthew Cox, Mark Bailey, Rick Bailey, Gary Bailey Tommy Thompson, Jackie LaMastus, Strehle Thompson, Brad Baughman, Keith McMinn, Jeff Andrews, Bill Matthews, Earl Fountain, Art Tidmore, Barry Bryant, Stafford Shurden, Tom Davis, John Ferguson, Parker Estes, Matt Cummins, Brent Baughman, Ron Smith, Ted Hodges, W.C. Mooney, Wesley Bowen, Phil McNeer, Bill Cummins, Dooley Vance, Vernon Sandifer, Charles Yarborough, Judd Land, and Nick Moody. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the improvements to keep the kids cool and warm during the school year as well as the education of the students at North Sunflower Academy and/or to Pawprints Rescue Center.
