Guy Whitten

Willard Guyton “Guy” Whitten Jr., a beloved member of the Cleveland, Mississippi community, passed away on November 26, 2024, at the age of 72. A visitation will be held on November 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. 

Guy was born on July 9, 1952, in Cleveland, MS, to Willard Whitten and Dell Kittrell. 

He was a proud graduate of Rosedale High School, Class of 1971, where he showcased his athletic abilities by playing basketball and football. Following his education, Guy served in the National Guard.

Guy enjoyed a diverse career path, notably working at Baxter Laboratories and farming alongside his brother Donny. His commitment to his work extended to his role as a Rural Carrier with the US Postal Service in Merigold, MS where he retired after 25 years of service. 

An avid outdoorsman, Guy found joy in woodworking, hunting, and fishing, pursuits that brought him closer to nature and allowed him to pass on his passions to his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Guyton Whitten Sr. and Lillian Deloris Homer Whitten Kittrell.

Guy leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss him. He is survived by his son, Michael Whitten (Vickie); his daughter, Manda Whitten LaCaze; granddaughter, Molly Jane LaCaze. He also leaves behind his brother, Donny Whitten (Deanna); sister, Pam Wilson (Wally); as well as several nieces, including Melanie Callicott (Millard), Natalie Roesler (Paul), and Adeliade Wilson; nephews, Whitt Whitten (Kim), Will Wilson, and Robert Wilson; along with a host of great nieces and nephews.
