Helen Litton

Helen Morgan Litton, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 5 after a short illness. She had been a member of the Longshot Community for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling with friends from the community as well as her sister Jeanette and family, visiting such far away places as Hawaii, Cancun, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland. For nearly ten years, she had resided at Aldersgate Methodist Retirement Community in Meridian, MS. This was a very fulfilling time where she enjoyed making new friends and taking part in the activities offered by the retirement community, especially her daily card games. She had become an active member of Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church.
She leaves two sons, David (Pam) of Meridian, MS, Wayne (Ruby) of Quitman, Ms and daughter Jo Litton Jackson of Germantown, TN. Survivors also include grandchildren Paige Madden(Mike) of Franklin, TN, Ashley Somogyi (Chris) of Germantown, TN, Hayden Jackson (Apryl) of Chicago, IL, Jeremy Litton(Nicole) of Jackson, MS, Jessica McGee (Brad) of Brandon, MS, Wes Bonner (Trinity) of Hattiesburg, MS and Hayley Gipson (Wesley) of Quitman, MS. Helen also leaves eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Frances Duell of Clarksdale, MS and Jeanette Jordan of Carson City, NV.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Thomas Litton who died on February 2, 1981, her mother, Bertha K. Morgan and three brothers, George, James and Leon Morgan.
A Celebration of the Life of Helen Morgan Litton will be on Wednesday, February 8 with visitation at 1pm and services following at 2pm. Burial will be at Shaw Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church in Meridian, MS, Benoit Union Church in Benoit, MS or the charity of choice.
