Henry Franklin 'Frank' Palmer

Mr. Henry Franklin "Frank" Palmer, 74, of Benoit, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in Shaw Cemetery. Mr. Palmer was born in Bolivar County, MS on November 21, 1941, to Henry Cornelius Palmer and Emma Leona Garrard Palmer. On June 8, 1963, he married Barbara Ann Jones in Rosedale, MS. He owned and operated his own construction company for over 40 years. He was known for making, selling and repairing grain bins. After his retirement in 2008, he began farming as a favorite pastime and enjoyment.
Mr. Palmer grew up poor but worked hard to make a better life for his family. In doing this, he was able to provide for all those he loved and he ensured that his children were able to further their education and be comfortable in life. He also was a kind and giving man who always tried to help those who were in need. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing dominos with his friends at the domino hall. His favorite thing to do was have fish frys and cookouts surrounded by his family and friends.
He was a member of Interstate Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cornelius Palmer and Emma Leona Garrard Palmer; sisters, Claudia Clifton, Ruby Jennings, Vera Barlow, and Mary Clifton; and his brothers, M.A. Palmer, Clifton palmer, and John D. Palmer. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Jones Palmer of Benoit; children, Keith Palmer (Diana) of Greenwood, Donna Cooper (Danny) of Glen Allen, Patricia Bahammou of Benoit, Emily Palmer (Rusty) of Gulf Shores, AL, and Rebecca Palmer of Benoit; grandchildren, Heather Adams, Holly Palmer, Carrie Smith, Bobby Whitlock, Clayton Whitlock, Amina Bahammou, and Emerson Palmer; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Kate Filer of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Morris, Rodney Mills, Curtis Redd, Bobby Whitlock, Joey Adams, and James "Skeeter" Bowen.
