Mrs. Irene Stanford Johnson, 91, of Skene, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Starnes officiating, Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born on February 7, 1923, to James Mansfield Stanford and Velma Washington Stanford. On February 21, 1948, she married James M. "Jack" Johnson. She was a faithful member of Skene Baptist Church. She graduated from Skene High School in 1940 and then received her B.S. Degree from Delta State. Mrs. Johnson taught in elementary schools in Bolivar County for 33 years. Being a teacher, her greatest joy was seeing the accomplishments of the children whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Mansfield Stanford and Velma Washington Stanford; husband, Jack Johnson; brothers, C.T. "Buddy" Stanford, James Stanford, and Lamar Stanford; and sister, Cherrie Mae S. Redden. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Brocato (Sonny) of Summerfield, FL and Linda Yeager (Bob) of Boyle, MS; grandchildren, Kim Y Abide (Gary) of Rogers, AR, Lara Y. Butler (Jeff) of Springfield, MO, Steve Muzzi (Heather) of Madison, MS, Wendy Y. Holladay (Rob) of Madison, MS, and Andrea Y. Edwards (Aaron) of Madison, MS; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Peggy Stanford, Carolyn Stanford, and Barbara Stanford. Pallbearers will be Steve Muzzi, Gary Abide, Jeff Butler, Rob Holladay, Aaron Edwards, and Cody Britt.
