James Bowen

James Andy Bowen, 81, of Shaw, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Haney officiating. Interment will be in Lehrton Cemetery.
Mr. Bowen was born December 13, 1932, in Shaw, MS to John Andy Bowen and Josie Alice Blunt Bowen. He proudly served our country as a United States Marine, and was married to Bonnie Merle Marquis. He worked for 20 years at Modern Line Productions in Indianola as a Production Supervisor and won several pinstar and awards of excellence from Chrysler. He was an outstanding company man that was passionate about his job, and he had a strong work ethic and expected the same from everybody. He was often known as "The Gov" at his office because of the way he ran things. He loved waiting on his wife, hunting, fishing, and his dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Andy Bowen and Josie Alice Blunt Bowen; wife, Bonnie Merle Marquis Bowen; son, Donald Glen Bowen; and brothers, Jessie Lewis Bowen, John Edward Bowen, and Earl Bowen.
Mr. Bowen is survived by his sons, James Skeeter Bowen (Melody) of Shaw and Patrick Lee Bowen (Viola) of Shaw; grandchildren, Melanie Denise Wiggins (Charlie) of Hernando, John Andy Bowen of Interstate, and Jennifer Kay Tinnen of Saltillo; and sister, Mary Alice Bowen of Jackson.
Pallbearers will be John Andy Bowen, Jimmy Bowen, Mike Lofton, Kelly Yarborough, Sonny Patridge, and Gerald McClure. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Toler and John Toler.
