With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James "Buck" Frazier, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and respected member of the community.
A visitation honoring Buck will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 12-1pm at Ray Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1pm in Ray Funeral Home. Graveside will proceed in the Beulah Cemetery after the service. Pallbearers will be Joey Hammonds, Marty Chenault, Billy Bassie, Chip Tweedle, Ashley Tweedle and Nick Plymesser. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Honorable, Rusty Hale and William Gourlay.
Buck Frazier was Born on January 27, 1970, in Cleveland, MS to James Harvey & Kaffey Daniel Frazier.
Buck's presence in the small towns of Beulah and Rosedale left an indelible mark, especially during his time at Rosedale High School where he played an essential role in the school's football history, contributing to two state championship wins in 1985 and 1986. Buck proudly wore #55 and was a First Team All-State Center. Following his passion for the waterways, Buck spent over four decades working on the Mississippi River on tow boats, eventually attaining the esteemed position of Captain for over 20 years. He was affectionately known up and down the river as “Captain Buck” to his Shipmates and to all of those he mentored throughout his career.
Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, Buck's true joy stemmed from the simple pleasures of life - spending time with family and friends, relishing the warmth of summer evenings in the Delta back roads, or just around a bonfire cookout, and bringing people together through his infectious spirit. Buck was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand, Buck's selflessness touched the lives of many. Buck's life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and unwavering loyalty to all that knew him.
Buck is preceded in passing by his father, James Harvey Frazier, grandparents, AJ & Toppy Daniel, John & Dell Frazier.
Buck is survived by his loving wife Sheila Frazier, his mother, Kaffey Daniel Frazier, his son, Brian Frazier, his brother, Jay (Brandi) Frazier, his uncles, Randy Daniel, Johnny Frazier, Dewitt Frazier, Randy Frazier and a host of nephews, cousins, loving family friends and his fur babies, especially Hillary. “Jim Buck” will be so missed.
