James E Kirkland, 79, of Cleveland, MS passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Delta Rehab in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March, 19, 2020 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home. James was born September 19, 1940 in Laurel, MS to E.J. and Sue Kirkland. He obtained his master's in Psychology and Western Civilization. He married Patricia Coachie June 6, 1968 in Florida. James was a Baptist pastor for 45 years. He was an avid hot wheels collector, military model maker, antique shop owner, but most of all he loved preparing his sermons and reading his bible.
James was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. and Sue Kirkland; wife, Patricia Kirkland; granddaughter, Courtney Woods. He is survived by his sons, Andrew Adam Kirkland (Kelly) of Cleveland, MS, Christopher James Kirkland (Angela) of Olive Branch, MS, and Stephen Hunter Kirkland of Kechacan, AK; daughters, Rachel Patricia Kirkland of Shelbyville, TN, Susan Woods (Ricky) of Drew, MS and Sarah Kelly Kirkland of Indianola, MS; brothers, Harold Kirkland (Ann) of Mobile, AL and Bobby Kirkland (Becky) of Starkville, MS; sister, Debbie Shelby (Paul) of Taylorsville, MS; and a host of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
