James Wilson Jacks, Sr, age 78, left this earth on August 14, 2020. James was an amazing husband, The BEST DAD, and the proudest Big Daddy and Great Big Daddy. James attended Delta State University after serving in the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army. While at Delta State James met and married the love of his life, Janet Chamblee. After marriage, James and Janet moved to Belle Glade, FL to start their family, where James spent most of his career in the agriculture business. James was no stranger of giving back, as he poured so much of his time into Christian Day School, where he volunteered as a coach and school board member, and a LOUD fan, as his kids participated in athletics.
James was a man of action who set an example of how to get things done, whether it was in his career in the produce business, being a volunteer high school football head coach, or serving as the Sunday school director at First Baptist Church of Belle Glade for many years and many other community leadership roles. Family and friends would tell you that he was a man of great integrity, a man of faith and a man of his word but he never wavered on his commitment to do what was right. He made an impact on countless lives and created wonderful memories with so many from the athletic field, playing golf, on the lake, opening his home to all, or just being around his playful sense of humor. Most of all James loved spending time with his family, nothing made him happier. He has left a lasting legacy for all of us to try to live up to. This world needs more James Jacks in it.
James leaves behind his wife Janet Chamblee Jacks; daughter: Johanna Jacks Hinkle (Richard), son: James (Jay) Jacks Jr (Jennifer Blakely), grandchildren; Kylie Jacks Scott (Judson); Haiden Jacks; Sawyer Jacks; Caroline Hinkle; great grandchild: Blakely Grey Scott; brother: Roy Jacks (Beverly); uncle Johnny Norquist (Gloria) and many nieces nephews and cousins.
Due to the ongoing pandemic the family will hold a private memorial service in Cleveland, MS as well as a safe socially distant private memorial in Belle Glade, FL at a later date. The family would treasure any special memories or stories about James that you feel led to share on the website.
In addition, James had a degree in education and had a passion for young people where he volunteered many mornings for Glades Youth Connection, where he and many of his friends would cook breakfast for the local high school football teams on Saturdays where they received a Christ centered message. The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, that you kindly give in James Jacks honor to the Glades Youth Connection where their mission statement is "Seeking every moment to change the lives of youths; Seeking every moment to bring them to the truth".
