Jane Ellen Bobitt, 79, passed away on August 6, 2022, in Memphis, TN.
Jane Ellen Bobitt was born on December 19, 1942 in Columbus, MS, to Frank McCann and Tommie McCann.
Jane Ellen graduated from S.D. Lee High in 1960. She then started college at the University for Women. After her first year of college, she went on to Washington D.C. for a summer internship with the FBI. She graduated college in 1964 earning a BF in Art and Design. After graduating college, she attended school at the New York School of Interior Design. She then returned to Columbus and worked for Johnson Tombigbee as an interior designer and sold furniture. Upon moving to Cleveland, MS she got her real estate license around 1995 and started her career as a Realtor. She went on to found Partnership Properties in 2009.
Jane Ellen married Paul Bobitt on June 5th 1965 in Columbus, MS. In Columbus, she was involved in multiple prayer and Bible study groups. She also managed to find time for interior decorating and sewing. Her love for entertaining began with a life long supper club of great friends. The couple had 2 children, Shelley Tufts, of Opelika, AL and Casey McGhee, of Memphis, TN. The family moved from Columbus to Cleveland, MS in 1985. Where she was very involved Covenant Presbyterian church, Reformed University Fellowship, Bethany Adoption Services, Parchman, Rotary Club, and Junior Auxillary, to name a few.
Jane Ellen was loved and will be remembered by loved ones and friends for her love for Jesus Christ, her contagious smile and laughter. She was always ready to pack up her suitcase, at a moments notice, and head off to the next adventure. Besides travel, her love for cooking, entertaining and fine dining were a staple in her life. She loved Christmas and spending time with family. Up there with God, FOOD, and family, in that order, was the Halmark Channel! When she wasn't watching Halmark, she could be found reading a book. Who knew that she could manage to find time to read, as she was always running around town, involved in something!
Jane Ellen is survived by her daughters Shelley (Joe) Tufts of Opelika, AL and Casey (Charles) McGhee of Memphis, TN and her brother Thomas "Butch" (Deloris) McCann.
Her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Aucion, Madaline Murawski, Victoria Barker, Winston Tufts, and Patrick Tufts
Her great grandchild: Ella Barker
Jane Ellen is preceded in death by James McCann - father, Tommie McCann - mother, Paul Bobitt - husband, John "Sonny" McCann - brother
The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Jane Ellen Bobitt will be held on Thursday August 11th at 10:00 at North Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, MS.
Visitation to follow at 11:00 am till 12:00 pm Covenant Presbyterian church Fellowship Hall.
Memorial donations can be made in Jane's Ellen's name to St. Jude and the Exodus Ranch, 600 Andrews Road, Opelika, AL 36801.
