Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Corban officiating. Interment will be in Delta Heights Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 10 a.m. Jean was born on February 17, 1931 in Rome, MS to Henry Viner and Josie Early Viner. She married Roy Norquist on March 25, 1949 in Drew, MS. She then worked for Cleveland State Bank as a bookkeeper for 40 years before retiring. After retiring from Cleveland State Bank, Jean volunteered her time working in the church office for 13 years. She was fondly known as Granny, by loved ones and friends. She could not wait for springtime so she could get her hands dirty planting flowers, cleaning out flower beds, pulling weeds, and most importantly, riding her lawn mower. She spent her winters hand stitching Christmas stockings for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other loved ones. She also had a love for bird houses, collecting mustache mugs, bird and rooster figurines, and antique salters. Jean believed you had to find something everyday to laugh about even if she laughed about herself. She is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Roy Norquist; parents, Henry and Josie Viner; and two grandsons, Ryan Schlatter and Joseph Schlatter. Mrs. Norquist is survived by her children, Steve Norquist (Christene) of Brandon, MS, Rita Norquist of Little Rock, AR, Lynn Schlatter (Ronnie) of Indianola, MS, Gloria Serio of Olive Branch, MS, Carolyn "Cack" Norquist (Terry) of Pontotoc, MS, and Renee Norquist of DeBary, FL; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leigh Wray of Lake May, FL and Lenora Smith of Germantown, TN; brother-in-law, Johnny (Gloria) Norquist; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Stephen Norquist, Nick Serio III, Matthew Schlatter, Austin Usry, Karl Grubb, and David Norquist. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Schlatter and Joe McKnight.
