Mrs. Jeanette G. "Nuggie" Dakin, 61, of Boyle, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at North Cleveland Cemetery with Rev. Milton Burd officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
MRs. Dakin was born in Shaw, MS on May 28, 1953, to A. B. Gilbert and Edna Mae Dunn Gilbert. On May 22, 1980, she married E. Kent Dakin at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland. She worked for many years at Color Tile in Cleveland and also thoroughly enjoyed her job at the jewelry store. She was an accomplished artist who liked to paint, draw, cross-stitch, and refinish old furniture. She enjoyed going to second hand stores and yard sales to search for new projects. Her dogs Gidget, Maggie and Roro were her babies. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her sisters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, A. B. Gilbert and Edna Mae Dunn, and a brother, Albert Lee "Slick" Gilbert.
Mrs. Dakin is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kent Dakin of Boyle; brothers, Jimmy Gilbert (Olivia) of Pace and Roy Gilbert (Julia) of Alix, AR; sisters, Nancy Mae Robinson of Cleveland, Linda J. Bowen (John) of Boyle, Mary Lee McElroy (Jimmy) of Hamilton, Peggy J. Showers (Kim) of Skene, Brenda Sue Johnson of Cleveland, and Becky Roberson (Johnny) of Pace; special niece, Cortland Gilbert of Alix, AR; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Susan Hendricks of Greenville and Patricia Nunley of Shelby.
In memory of Mrs. Dakin, donations may be made to any cancer research fund of your choice.
