Jenelle Little Norwood, 81, of Drew, died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in Ruleville.
Visitation will be held from 1-2p.m. and a memorial service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at Drew United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Norwood was born on January 10, 1929 in Quitman County to Dewitt Little and Bernice Jones Little. She was married to the late Ralph Oliver Norwood.
She received double Bachelorâs degrees in English and Bible Studies from Blue Mountain College. After graduation, she returned to the Delta and taught elementary school in Inverness and Drew, and she taught at North Sunflower Academy from 1969 until her retirement in 1994. She also received her Masterâs degree in Elementary Supervision from Delta State University while teaching.
Mrs. Norwood was an active member of the Drew community, Drew Garden Club, and Drew Culture Club. She attended Drew United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Oliver Norwood; daughter Leslie âDollâ Norwood; son Stan Norwood; and sisters, Emory Jean Coleman and Jack Marie Hastings.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Claire Norwood of Jackson; and her grandson, Jarrett Free of Drew.
As a teacher, she touched and formed many young lives in a very positive way, and will be remembered for her strength, wisdom, grace, and sense of humor.
