Jerry was born December 4, 1948, in Clarksdale, MS to Howard and Ola Haney.
He married the love of his life Susan Dye on June 27, 1969, at First Baptist Church
in Shelby, MS. They lived life to the fullest with his 3 beautiful children, 11
grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Jerry had a bachelor’s degree and was
an insurance salesman for many years. He was a hard worker, affectionate, and
loyal to a tee. Jerry was always working and never sitting still, there was always
something to build or repair. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked
and not think twice about it. Loyalty was always important to him, if you were
friends with him, you would always know he would be there for you no matter
what. Jerry would always say “Be true to yourself and follow through with your
commitments. Faith will lead you, Home!” In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed drag
racing, refurbishing furniture, watching college football, and spending time outside
with his dogs, Sooner and Lulu.
He is predeceased by his parents, Howard and Ola Haney; stepmother, Charlene
Haney; stepbrothers, Harold Max Chrestman and Tommy Chrestman.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Susan Dye Haney;
daughter, Nichole Denton (Ricky); sons, Joseph “Guy” Haney (Glenda) and Jerry
“Bo” Haney Jr (Mandy); grandchildren, Joseph, Brandon, Dylan, Andrew, Tyler,
Grace, Kara, Cassidy, Ian, Zach, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Madelyn,
Branson, Rowan, Ashlan, Stormi, Brennan, and Lela Juliette.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or your
favorite charity in Jerry’s honor.
