Jimmy Gilbert

Jimmy L Gilbert, 76 of Cleveland, MS was called home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2022.

A Visitation in honor of Mr. Gilbert will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Jimmy was born on November 09, 1945, in Bolivar County to his parents A.B. "Bud" Gilbert & Edna Mae Dunn Gilbert. Jimmy grew up in the Mississippi Delta where he found the love of dirt tracks and late models. He learned how to take something from nothing and could build things. In Jimmy's free time he enjoyed working on his flowers and gardening. He also enjoyed wood working. Jimmy was a long-time member of Pace Pentecostal Church. Most of all Jimmy was happiest while being surrounded by his greatest treasures his family and friends.

Jimmy is preceded in passing by his parents, A.B. & Edna Gilbert, first wife & mother of his children, Rosa Gilbert; his former wife, Olivia Womack Gilbert; brothers, Albert Lee "Slick" and Roy Gilbert; beloved sisters, Nancy Mae Robinson and Jeanette Dakin; beloved grandson, Charles "Scoot" Cole.

Jimmy is survived by two loving daughters, Jennifer Harris (Mitch) of Cleveland, MS and Rena "Lori" Brackin; grandson Mitchell Harris; sisters, Linda Joyce Bowen (John), Mary Lee McElroy (Jimmy), Peggy Showers (Kim), Becky Roberson (Johnny), and Brenda Sue Johnson; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
