Jimmy "Mickey" Grantham

Jimmy “Mickey” Grantham, beloved member of the Merigold community passed away on February 17, 2024. A Graveside service in honor of Mickey will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 2:30PM in the Merigold City Cemetery. 

Jimmy Michael “Mickey” Grantham, born on July 14, 1955 to his late parents, Willard Gray Grantham Sr. & Ethel Quinton Grantham. Mickey dedicated his life to serving as a volunteer firefighter at the Merigold Fire Department and working at Bolivar County. He found joy in his work on local farms, specifically driving the tractor, and was known for maintaining the best garden in Merigold. Despite facing a challenging obstacle in 1999 that left him paralyzed, Jimmy remained fiercely independent until his peaceful passing on February 17, 2024. His resilience and passion for life inspired all who knew him. Jimmy Grantham will forever be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to his community, and his green thumb that blessed Merigold with beautiful gardens. On behalf of Mickey’s family, they want to thank all the special care takers that helped him in his life. They all held a special place in Mickey’s heart. Mickey will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Mickey is preceded in passing by his parents, Willard Gray Grantham Sr & Ethel Quinton Grantham, three brothers, Willard Grantham Jr., Johnny Grantham, and Terry Smith. 

Mickey is survived by his loving siblings, Willie Grantham, and Connie Smith., and three nieces.
