Jo Ann Hays

Ms. Jo Ann Hays, 74, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at UMC in Jackson. Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Owen officiating.
Ms. Hays was born in Cleveland, Mississippi on July 25, 1940, to Lewis Edward Hays and Maudie Mae McFerrin. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland. She loved making pot holders, participating in the Special Olympics, making homemade biscuits and playing board games. She loved to work with senior citizens and for many years she was a volunteer at several local nursing homes. She was always known for taking care of others. In 2009, she moved to the nursing home in Durant and helped brighten the lives of others there until her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mae Hays; brothers, Lewis Edward Hays, Jr., Cecil Lloyd Hays, and John Wayne Hays; and sisters, Maudie Corrine Tackett and Melvelene Dean.
Ms. Hays is survived by her brother, Winston Gene Hays of Newport News, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
