Joe Morris Capocaccia Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, in Oxford, Mississippi, at the age of 82. Visitation will be held January 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass starting at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Victories, Cleveland, MS.
Joe was born on November 19, 1942, to Joseph Morris and Emma Elizabeth Mangialardi Capocaccia Sr. in Shelby, Mississippi, he thought it was the “greatest small town in the world”. He was the oldest of his siblings. Joe’s life was filled with hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family. Joe met the love of his life, Shirley Boswell at Baxter Medical Supply where he began his career. They married on November 28, 1963, in Shelby, MS. Joe and Shirley have called Cleveland their home for over 60 years.
Joe had a distinguished career spanning over 42 years at Truckline Gas Company, where he earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers for his vast knowledge of the welding trade. Known for his infectious smile and sparkling eyes, Joe was truly adored by those who worked alongside him. His commitment to perfection and willingness to put in long hours earned him numerous awards and accolades. When a job needed to be done right, he was the man everyone could rely on. Joe was also a proud member of the National Guard, Joe served his country with honor and integrity, reflecting the values he instilled in his family.
Being a husband, father, and grandfather was his favorite past time. His love was lavished on Shirley, Missy, and his grandsons, Shelton and Harper. Joe passionately shared his knowledge and experiences, ensuring he was there to support them at every practice and game for football, baseball, and soccer. Being an avid outdoorsman, he especially loved deer hunting, duck hunting, and fishing with his “boys”. He took the time to nurture, encourage and share his wisdom in all their activities together. They shared a strong bond never going a single day without speaking to one another. His heart and soul were clearly dedicated to their upbringing, and he cherished every moment spent with them, it was truly his greatest accomplishment. His grandsons are the men they are today because of their Papa. Joe’s legacy will be one of playfulness, fun, joy, and laughter.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Morris and Emma Elizabeth Mangialardi Capocaccia Sr., whose legacy continues to live on through his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Shirley Boswell Capocaccia of Cleveland, Mississippi, along with their daughter Missy Capocaccia and her husband Keith Harris Kinkade of Madison, Mississippi.
