John Moody

John L. Moody, age 89, of Holly Bluff, MS passed into the arms of Jesus Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. John L. was born on August 7, 1930 to Pervey Lee "Monk" Moody and Rose Mary Bowen in Skene, MS. He married his wife Peggy Ann Shoops Moody in 1966. John L. served in the military for 4 years. He and his wife opened a business adventure 10 Mile Hunting Lodge and have served hunters and fishermen for over 30 years. John L.'s favorite past time was fishing in Lake Washington and holding large family and friend gathers at his home. He never met a stranger and treated everyone he met like they were his family. John L. was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. John L. was preceded in death by his parents Pervey Lee "Monk" Moody and Rose Mary Bowen and Linda Carrol Donovan (daughter), Abner Carroll Moody(brother), Ester Louise Moody Haire (sister). John L. is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Peggy Shoops Moody of Holly Bluff MS, sister, Callie Elizabeth "Ritus" Crews of FL, daughters Paula Marie Wand (George) of MS, Phyillis Ann Villescaz (Michael) of LA, Carla Claudine Crites of, MS, and son John L. Moody II (Ginger) of MS, grandsons John Michael Donovan of MS, Charles Curtis Wand of MS, Daniel Allen Wand(Courtney) of MS, Brian Michael Villescaz of LA, Stephen Allen Crites of MN Alex Paul Villescaz of LA Eric Venson Villescaz of LA, Jacob "Jake" Marshall Anderson of MS, granddaughters Devona Donovan Dew (Ben) of MS, Jessica Crites Penny (Jonathan) of MS, Laurie Wand Goodin (Stephen) of MS, Samantha Jade Merritt of MS, Colbie Jaelyn Merritt of MS and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palmer home for children or any charity of your choice.
