John Smith Veazey, 70, of Cleveland, MS, passed away at Bolivar Medical Center on Friday, January 25, 2013. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Veazey was born in Alligator, MS on February 9, 1942, to Smith Veazey and Annie Louise Gammill. He was married to Dorothy Anne Allen in Helena, Ark on November 7, 1961. He worked as a parts salesman in the automotive industry. He participated in the Mason, Shriner, Scottish rites, York rites. He loved to go fishing and playing poker on the computer. He enjoyed woodworking and would make pens.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Smith Veazey and Annie Louise Gammill Veazey and brother James Veazey.
Mr. Veazey is survived by his wife, Anne Allen Veazey of Cleveland, MS; daughter, Leigh Smith Dye (Malcolm) of Cleveland, MS; grand children, Ashley Smith Scott (Winn) of Cleveland, MS, Mallory Smith Pitts (John) of Hattiesburg, MS; great grand children, Reese Allen Scott of Cleveland, Emerson Jane Scott of Cleveland, John Sullivan Pitts of Hattisburg; sister, Janice Safley (Agnew) of Rome, MS; brother, Robert "Bob" Veazey of Oxford, MS, a host of nieces and nephews.
