John W. Lamberson, Jr.

S/Sgt. John W. Lamberson, Jr., 95, of Clinton, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, in Clinton. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Strum officiating. Interment will be in Linn Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Lamberson was born January 13, 1921, in Boyle, MS, to John W. Lamberson, Sr. and Helen Rogers Lamberson. He attended Boyle High School and was a member of Company E 155th Infantry in the National Guard. The company was mobilized into regular service in 1940. He later served his country for 14 months in New Guinea, Maritai Island, and then the Philippine Island of Mindanao as a member of Company G 31st Dixie Division. In 1956, he married Grace Easom Campbell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Boyle, serving as a deacon and in various other capacities. He then became a member of First Baptist Church in Raymond, MS. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Lamberson of Raymond; son, John Patrick Lamberson of Clinton; three step-daughters, Billie Towles of Cleveland, Shirley Calcote of Brookhaven, and Robbie Riggin of Learned; grandchildren, Brad Lamberson, Megan Griffin, Samantha Lamberson, Casey Wallace, Brandi Melendrez, Rob Riggin, Kevin Riggin, Karen Meacham, Katie Grace McCaleb, Lee Ellen Rogers, and Allen Towles; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rob Riggin, Brad Lamberson, Allen Towles, Casey Wallace, Swayde Pirtle, and Kevin Riggin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Riggin, Charlie Garner, Owen Warren, and Don Towles.
