Joseph Lewis Smith II

Joseph Lewis Smith II, 92, of Cleveland went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 1, 2022.  Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS followed by a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. 

Joseph was born August 17, 1930, in Belzoni, MS to Lewis and Bill Smith.  Joseph proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.  Joseph was a lifelong farmer and loved every day on the farm.  He was also a master woodworker and an avid fisherman.  He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, served on the Presbyterian Day School board, an elder of the Presbyterian Church, and Palmer Home Board. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Bill Smith; former wife, Hilda Moore Smith; son, Kirk Smith; and son-in-law, Steve McClellan.

Joseph is survived by his son Joe Smith III (Kim); daughter, Ladye Ann Smith McClellan; grandchildren, Annie McClellan Moore (Joe), Ross Hester (Win), Searcy Smith Rhodes (Richard), Steven McClellan; great grandchildren, Lexie Scott Hollis, Jane Hester, Josie Hester, and Rob Hester; and brother Pearman Smith (Becky). 

The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Margaret, Nikki, Debra, Diane, and Rosie.  A special thank you for his nurse, Pam and Margie Sappington.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Kirk Smith Scholarship fund at PDS or the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS.
