Joy Garrett Cole

Joy Garrett Cole was called home to be with Lord on August 3, 2020. Joy was born to her late parents, Joseph Hewitt Garrett and Lovie Bell Welch Garrett. She attended school at Skene, Mississippi. After high school, she married Joe McClendon Cole on November 30, 1957 She worked at Baxter Labs for many years until retiring. In her spare time, she loved to paint and garden. She was a caretaker to many in the family. Most of all, Joy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed dearly. Joy is preceded in passing by her father, Joseph Hewitt Barrett; mother, Lovie Bell Garrett; brothers, Joe Garrett, Jerry Garrett, and Terry Garrett; sister, Jean Dean. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Cole of Nashville, TN and Diane Kovarcik of Cleveland, MS; grandchildren, Heather Miller (Marc) and Joel Kovarick; great grandchild, Cole Miller; sisters, Ann Thompson (Dale) and Charlotte Pittman; brothers, James Garrett (Becky), Tommy Garrett (Morena); and a host of loved nieces and nephew.
A special thanks to her niece Amy Turberville and her caregiver Shirley Goodlow.
