Joyees Thompson, 79, of Cleveland passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland with services immediately following the visitation. Bro. Billy Owen and Bro. Barry Dickerson will officiate. Interment will follow in Lehrton Cemetery, Ruleville.
Mrs. Thompson was born November 30, 1932, to Henry and Lela Shumate Clanton. In December of 1951, she married Ralph W. Thompson at the Methodist Church in Ruleville. She was a member of Cleveland Garden Club and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lela Clanton; her husband, Ralph W. Thompson; and her son Rodney W. Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters, Pam Butler (Wayne) and Kay Saia both of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Amanda Allbritton (Chris) of Charleston, Wes Butler (Jessica) of Memphis, Taylor Saia and Campbell Saia of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren, Kendall Allbritton and McKenzie Allbritton of Charleston; one brother, Bill Clanton of Florida; and one sister-in-law, Ann Nelson of Cleveland.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Scott Nelson, Butch Stallings, John David Bassie, Mickey Thompson, Robert Heslep and John Elliott. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steven Clark, Dr. Tom Wiggins, John Bassie.
