Mrs. Katherine Louise Aycock Gladden, 87, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at her home after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Lehrton Cemetery. Mrs. Gladden was born in Gulfport, MS, on March 28, 1928, to William Reed Aycock and Polly Josephine Richardson Aycock. On November 10, 1947, she married Oscar Richard Gladden, Jr. in Skene, MS. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was better known as Memaw. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 62 years, and she taught Sunday School for 54 of those years while also being an active choir member. She once traveled with local Baptists to Argentina on a mission trip. Memaw was very faithful in her Bible Study each week. She was also an avid painter, seamstress, and creator of the "Cotton Owl". She was preceded in death by her parents, William Reed Aycock and Polly Josephine Aycock; infant daughter, Kay Cheri Gladden; and son, Joseph Richard Gladden. Mrs. Gladden is survived by her husband, Oscar Richard Gladden, Jr. of Cleveland; sons, David L. Gladden (Peggy) and Paul D. Gladden both of Cleveland; daughter, Tina C. Gladden of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Riley Gladden of Cleveland; granddaughters, Beth Gladden Kelly (Ronnie) of Cleveland and Jenny Gladden Brackin (Joseph) of Cleveland; grandson, David Lee Gladden, Jr. (Whitney) of Madison, MS; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Kelly, Hannah Grace Kelly, Tucker David Gladden, Macy Maloy Gladden, and Connor Joseph Brackin; and sister, Dorothy A. Campbell of Foxworth, MS. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation for the caregivers who took care of Memaw (and Pepaw) during these difficult days: Jessica Denley, Tacontria Walker, Lena Isler, Kelly Shelton, and the North Sunflower Hospice Group. In memory of Mrs. Gladden, the family requests that donations be made to your home church or to the charity of your choice.
