Laura Kathryn Sledge McDonald, 99, of Lucedale, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS. Graveside services will be 2:00 Saturday, November 21, 2015, at New Cleveland Cemetery with Rev. Michael McLaughlin officiating. Mrs. McDonald was born in Alva, MS on August 25, 1916, to Pascal Earl Sledge and Annie Eliz Ingram Sledge. On November 20, 1941, she married John Hugh McDonald, Sr. in Cleveland, MS. She was an avid reader who also loved to rework furniture and deal in antiques. She and her husband owned and operated an antique store and often traveled to flea markets. Most importantly, she dearly loved and adored her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Brian, John, Ruby, Maxine, and Olene. Mrs. McDonald is survived by her son, John Hugh McDonald, Jr. (Helen) of Lucedale, MS; grandchildren, Ken McDonald (Sherri) of Madison, MS, Kevin McDonald of Brandon, MS, Margie Roesner of Woodland, TX, and Chad Upton (Toni) of Madison, MS; great-grandchildren, Pace McDonald, Amye McDonald, Sledge McDonald, Raegan Pope, Emily Roesner, Alex Roesner, and Chance Upton; brother, Nevin Sledge of Cleveland, MS; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be beloved family members.
