Kenneth Dale 'Kenny' Lawson
Mr. Kenneth Dale Lawson, 56, of Rosedale, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, in his hometown. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow beginning at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Lawson officiating.
Mr. Lawson was born on June 7, 1958, in Rosedale, to Clarence Edison Lawson, and Oma Dell Simpson Lawson. He graduated top of his class at Rosedale High School and furthered his education at Mississippi State University by obtaining a degree in Finance and Insurance with honors. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. After college, he worked as a manger at Crystal's then moved on to sales with General Electric Company. He also worked for 19 years as a Child Support Enforcement Officer with the State of Mississippi Welfare Department. Mr. Lawson was a huge Mississippi State fan and could talk for hours about the school he loved; He was a Bulldog through and through. He loved Rock-n-Roll and the Blues, and would often sing lines from his favorites. Ken was very well read, and could quote any author that he ever read. He loved family and was the baby of the family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edison Lawson and Oma Dell Simpson Lawson; and his brother, James Larry Lawson. Mr. Lawson is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Paulette Lawson (Don Mullinax) of Saint Johns, FL and Katherine Lawson Stump (William) of Olive Branch; brothers, Clarence Jerry Lawson (Martha Jean) of Rosedale and Gary O'Neal Lawson (Audie) of Brandon; companion, Carolyn Welshan of Rosedale; nieces and nephews, Amy Norcross (Gary), Emily Malone Ervin (Jack), Tamara Uhlhorn, Carolyn Dianne Lawson, Hope Dumas (Jeremiah), and Shelby Walker (Jason); 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; and an honorary brother, Mark Couey of Rosedale.
