Services for Lacy Neill Langford, 102, of Cleveland, Miss., are 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. Visitation will precede services from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Julia Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Delta Heights Memorial Gardens.
Lacy was born August 18, 1909, the youngest daughter of William Humphreys and Rosemary Moss Neill in North Carrollton and was the last surviving of seven children. She was married to Clifton Lawrence Langford, and together they published The Bolivar Commercial for many years.
Lacy was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, where she studied history and music, a life-long pursuit. A concert pianist, she began playing in church in Carrollton at age 12 and taught piano in Carrollton and Cleveland for many years. She was renowned for her concerts of dueling piano duets with fellow pianists Marion Ward, Mary Laura Barbour and Brenda Sledge. For 34 years, Lacy played the organ at Cleveland's First Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member, and was long-time organist for Calvary Episcopal Church in Cleveland.
At First Presbyterian, she was a member of the Women of Church. Lacy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and endowed scholarships at Delta State University in journalism and music.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
Her survivors include her daughter, Lacy Lusk (Owen), of Paragould, Ark.; grandson Clif Lusk (Buffy), of Troy, Ala.; granddaughters Beth Barger (Mark), of Greenwood, Miss., Lane Davis (Dan), of Brandon, Miss., and Diane Haas (Toxey), of West Point, Miss.; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Presbyterian Day School of Cleveland, French Camp, or to a charity of choice.
