He furthered his education at Ole Miss, earning a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1962, which paved the way for a fulfilling career. Larry dedicated his life to the field of pharmacy, serving the community for an impressive 60 years. His career was not merely a profession; it was a true calling, with Deep Delta Drug being close to his heart, described as his second family and a home away from home. Larry touched countless lives with his kindness and expertise.

Family was the cornerstone of Larry’s life. Throughout his life, Larry's personality was defined by unwavering dedication to his family and a deep love for his alma mater, Ole Miss. He is fondly remembered for his affection for his pet dachshund, Margo, who was a source of companionship and joy of 20 years.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Lexie and Altha Nickell, as well as his loving wife, Doris Sue Nickell of 14 years. Their memories live on through his legacy, which is marked by compassion, commitment, and love for those around him.

He is survived by his three loving daughters: Eleanor Gayle Phiffer (Zane), Wendy Nickell Miller, and Ashley Nickell McNutt (Matt). The joy of his life was amplified by his grandchildren, who include Evan Blake Herrington, Parker Scott Herrington, Marleigh Madison Phiffer, Reagan Miller Sapp (Nathan), Avritt Thames McNutt, and Joseph Kash McNutt. Each one held a special place in his heart.

Larry was also a cherished brother, leaving behind his siblings Conrad Nickell (Mary), Rayburn Nickell (Sue), and sister Lois Nickell Howard (Tommy), along with a host of loving nieces and nephews. Together, they shared lifelong memories that brought warmth and joy into their lives.

Larry Nickell's spirit will forever remain a guiding force in the lives of his loved ones, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. A special thank you to Delta Nursing and Rehab where he was spoiled and cared for like family, he loved them dearly.
