Mr. Leon Ellis Heffner, 69, of Cleveland, MS, passed away, Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Visitation will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Fellowship Hall at St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Celebration of life service will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Luke Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dixie HolderCummins officiating. Burial will follow the service in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Heffner was born in Greenwood, MS to Alvin Roddy and Margaret Eva Collins Heffner on August 19, 1942. He married Madeleine Colette Ciezak on June 3, 1962 in Columbia, SC. He loved to garden and was an avid rose gardener. Mr. Heffner and his wife were owners of Bolivar Tire, Inc. from 1979 until his retirement in 2008. He was a n Armed Services veteran and a York and Scottish Rite Mason, and Shriner. Mr. Heffner had a passion for fishing. He loved to make old things new.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Madeleine Ciezak Heffner; brother, Darnell Heffner; and sister, Juanita Barnett.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Heffner of Cleveland, MS; son, Richard Heffner of Cleveland, MS (Debbie); daughter, Rene' Turnage (Duane) of Batesville, MS; son, Todd Heffner (Stephanie) of Shaw, MS; grandchildren, Christopher Lishman (Elizabeth), Matthew Lishman, Scott Heffner, Chelsea Heffner, Kyle Partridge, Michael Heffner, Nicole Rensink, Logan Heffner and Hunter Turnage; brothers, Robert Heffner of Lambert, MS, (Shirley Ann), Paul Heffner (Jan) of Gautier, MS, Leroy Heffner (Ann) of Southaven, MS, Charlie Heffner of Coldwater, MS.
Pallbearers will be Michael Burdine, Christopher Lishman, Matthew Lishman, Kenneth Lishman, Charles, Briscoe, Louis Tackett, Walter McClure and Ralph McClure.
Honorary pallbearers are Scott Heffner , Michael Heffner, Kyle Partridge and John Veazy
