Lillie Sue Terrell Stillman, age 84, passed away the morning of Monday, July 2, 2012 in Gulfport, Mississippi . Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Lehrton Cemetery.
She was born September 7, 1927 in Ruleville, Mississippi to John Wesley Terrell and Eunice Pickle Terrell. She graduated from Ruleville High School in 1946. Following graduation she moved to Oak Ridge Tennessee and worked at Oak Ridge Arsenal, where she met 'the love of her life', Jack Stillman of Knoxville, Tennessee. She married Jack in Iuka, Mississippi on March 31, 1951. During their early years, they worked as event promoters for non-profit organizations in the Southeast. Their marriage of 20 years would be cut short with the premature death of Jack in 1969 at age 41.
Sue was a dedicated employee of Gulf Coast Medical Center for over 20 years, serving as housekeeping supervisor before retiring at age 72 to care for her first great granddaughter. She was a friend to everyone she met and always smiling with a kind word to say.
She is survived by her son, Jack Edward Stillman Jr. of Gulfport, Mississippi; daughter Suzette Gwin (John) of Fairhope, Alabama; granddaughter Jessica Goundas (Marlon) of Biloxi; grandson Jerry Burkhart III (Nicole) of Manassas, Virginia and great- granddaughters Ashton and Aubrey Goundas of Biloxi.
Other survivors include her devoted sister, Elsie Mullen who cared for her daily, a blessing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edward Stillman, daughter, Juanita Stillman, her parents, John and Eunice Terrell of Ruleville, brothers John Terrell of Atlanta and Franklin Terrell of Ruleville and one sister, Maggie McDonald of Ardmore Alabama.
