Louise Bostic Moore, 94, of Cleveland Mississippi, formerly of Drew, Mississippi, died on Saturday, October 11, 2014, Indywood Estates. Visitation will be 1 pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Ray Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2 pm. Interment will be in Drew Cemetery.
Louise Bostic Moore was born on January 4, 1920 in St. Charles, Arkansas to Robert Leander and Lilly McSwain Bostic. Because St. Charles did not have a high school, she moved to Duncan, MS to stay with her Aunt Ada Butler and family. She graduated from Duncan High School. After graduation she began working for the Mississippi Power and Light Company in Hernando and in Drew. She married George Ernest Moore on May 22, 1943 in Elizabethtown, KY. During World War II, while George was overseas, she worked for 2 years as the Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent at the St. Louis Cartridge War Plant.
Louise and George made their home outside of Drew and farmed. Louise worked at the Merchants and Planters Bank and later retired as the Drew Deputy City Clerk. She participated in various clubs and organizations that supported her children in all their activities. She was a member of the Drew Baptist Church and after moving to Cleveland, she joined the First Baptist Church.
Louise was a lovely lady with a kind and gentle spirit. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and church work. Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Her beloved husband passed away in 1988.
Surviving are her children, Diane Elliott (Bob) of Cleveland and Rev. Jack Davis Moore (Marcia) Eads, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren Robin Elliott of Southaven, Brad Elliott (Tara) of Leland, John Mark Elliott (Emily) of Guntown, Allyson Moore Curlin (Pete) of Memphis, and Micah Moore (Kelly). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
