A celebration of Life Memorial Service for GLADYS LUCILLE SMITH-SHAFFER 92, of Cleveland and Clinton, is scheduled for Saturday January 12 at Ray's Funeral Home in Cleveland. Visitation for family and friends begins at 1:00 p.m. , service at 2:00,. She passed away Tuesday January 1, 2013, in Celina Texas surrounded by her family. Lucille was born May 23, 1920 in Indianola MS.
She enjoyed traveling, many trips she won through General Electric by selling appliances for over 25 years. She had a tremendous love of music, dancing, gardening, cooking, singing with the Jackson First Baptist Senior Choir and anything that involved her Grandson Logan. She always had such a positive outlook on life, loved her Savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed the company and laughter of her family and friends.
She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and is survived by her daughter Tammy Sligar and her husband Jim of Celina, Texas, Grandson Logan Sligar of College Station, Texas, , sisters Arlie B. Smith, Vivian Merideth, Shirley Smith, Brother Roger Smith, adopted niece Gloria Jean Wooten, other nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. A beautiful life well lived.
The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
