Lynn Martin Hammack Lynn Martin Hammack, 85, of Boyle passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020, in Cleveland. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Cleveland with family visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Lynn was born on February 6, 1934, to Don and Margie Martin in Lubbock, TX. She and her siblings grew up modestly, chopping cotton in fields while singing harmony. Her family moved to Laurel, MS, where she attended Jones County Junior College. She met and married Felix C. Hammack. They were married for 49 years before his death in 2003. The couple moved to Cleveland in 1963, where she would happily spend the rest of life tending to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lynn was a genuine person who never met a stranger. She was always found with a smile and hug for everyone she knew and usually those she didn't know. She sent out birthday and other occasion cards until she became seriously ill. She never forgot a single event due to her pristine calendar she prepared at the beginning of each year. This calendar included anniversaries, deaths and even the birthdays of her youngest daughter's Cabbage Patch dolls. She loved her community, her Lord and Savior, her Sunday School class, her friends and especially her family. She doted on her four children, and never missed an activity, sporting event, class party or play. She carried on that tradition with her grandchildren. In her early life she loved fishing, bowling, tennis, singing in the church choir, and dancing and later life included crosswords, listening to music, lunching with friends, church functions, doing laundry, and shopping. Lynn could be found putting together jigsaw puzzles with her grandchildren, chauffeuring them anywhere they wanted to go, reading by the pool and watching guard over them at the beach. She was a member of the PTA, served as homeroom mother for all four of her children for many years, and was a longtime member of EPHFIC Woman's Club. She was best known for her signature outfit of a white button-down shirt, jeans and boots.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Margie Martin; her husband, Felix Cordell Hammack; her son, Martin Cordell Hammack; her sister, Diane Martin; and brother, Don Martin. She is survived by her children, Kelly Hammack Ferguson; Jerrod Felix (Carmen) Hammack; and Aimee Hammack (Mark) Robinette; eight grandchildren, Ryan Sparks, Jake Sparks, Anden Hammack, Carson Robinette, Cade Robinette, Peyton Hammack, Campbell Robinette and Crosby Robinette; five great-grandchildren, Zane Sparks, Cayson Sparks, Hudson Sparks, Ridge Sparks and Finely Sparks; and her sisters, Bernice Elzey and Pat (Jim) Morton. Bro. Brad Beckwith and Bro. Milton Burd will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
