Mabel Culp Miller

Mrs. Mabel Culp Miller, 86, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Drew Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2015, with Rev. Bill Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Drew Cemetery. Mrs. Miller was born in Arkansas on September 9, 1928, to Bruce Edwin Culp and Rebecca Ann Wallace Culp. On September 16, 1946, she married Kenneth Gene Miller in Batesville, AR. They stayed happily married until his passing in 1998. On top of being a dedicated mother and grandmother, Mrs. Miller also found time to be actively involved at Drew Baptist Church. She loved to sing and participated in the choir. She also was a very talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing children's clothes. She was a past Alderman for the City of Drew, was a member of Drew Culture Club and the Garden Club, and was active in fundraising at North Sunflower Academy during its beginnings. She is survived by her daughters, Myra Kay Miller Hughes (Bryant) of Drew and Becky Tollison of Ruleville; grandchildren, Brandon Hughes (Emily) of Etowah, NC, Lacy Hughes of Carbondale, CO, Ansley Vanlandingham (Brian) of Greenville, and Zac Tollison (Lauren) of Ruleville; great-grandchildren, Grace Vanlandingham of Greenville and Piper Tollison of Ruleville; sister, Wanda Prince of Paragould, AR; brothers, Paul Maxwell Culp (Wilma) of Lampassas, TX, Harold Culp (Carol) of Little Rock, AR, and Don Culp (Roberta) of Ontario, California; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steve Shurden, Bob Hovious, Johnny Baughman, Allen Towles, Jeff Andrews, and Mike Gilbow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to North Sunflower Academy 148 Academy Rd. Drew, MS 38737.
