Mable Cecil Stevens Etheridge, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully in Rosedale, Mississippi, on December 17, 2024, at the age of 89. Mable will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family and community. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS followed by a Celebration of Life Service. A graveside service will be at Beulah Cemetery.
Mable was born on November 14, 1935, in Rosedale, MS, to Henry and Cecil Stevens and spent her formative years in Helena, Arkansas, completing her high school education in Louisiana Missouri.
Mable had a diverse career, serving as a Bell South Operator and embracing the role of a dedicated homemaker. Her professional journey was matched only by her devotion to her family, whom she loved fiercely. Mable is remembered for her tenacity and determination; she was a woman who would not take "no" for an answer. Her legacy is especially evident in the hearts of her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.
An enthusiastic cook, Mable took great pleasure in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her home was always warm and welcoming, with open arms ready to embrace anyone who needed companionship with a listening ear. She was a prayer warrior. Mable held her church and her faith dear to her heart, finding solace in worship and community.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Earl Etheridge, sons, Daniel Earl Etheridge and Keith Wayne Kovach. Mable was also preceded in death by her mother, Willie Cecil Nash Stevens, and father, Henry Frank Stevens, along with her siblings Dorothy Clinton, Henry Frank Stevens, Charles Stevens, Maisie Lemonis, Dora Jean Ricotta, and Carl Lester Stevens.
Mable is survived by her devoted sons, Ronnie Etheridge and his wife Becky of Vicksburg, MS, Mickey Kovach and his wife Annie of Shaw, MS, Brian Etheridge of Ripley, TN, and Eddie Etheridge of Rosedale, MS. Her daughters, Janice Strait and her husband Charles of Smithland, KY, Brenda E. Johnson of Rosedale, MS, and Linda Skipper and her husband Neal of Holly Grove, AR, carry on her memory along with her sister, Ruby Stevens of Brandon, MS. Mable’s legacy extends to her 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, who were a joy and pride in her life. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The impact of Mable's life will resonate through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her generous spirit and loving heart.
