Malcolm James McDaniel, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November15, 2024, in Jackson, leaving behind a legacy marked by his versatile skills and warm personality. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Restoration Church in Greenville, MS. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m.
He was born on May 29, 1955, in Newport, Rhode Island, Malcolm embodied the spirit of a true jack of all trades. With an accomplished career as a truck driver spanning three decades, he demonstrated not only a work ethic but also an ability to adapt and thrive in various roles throughout his life.
A proud high school graduate, Malcolm possessed a love for learning that extended beyond formal education. His engaging personality came to life through his passions—he found great joy in fishing, earning him the affectionate nickname “Brim Jim.” Additionally, Malcolm was not just an admirer of music; he was an active participant, showcasing his talent by playing guitar and delighting friends and family with his karaoke singing.
He is survived by his beloved son, James Adam McDaniel, and his wife Ashley, of Greenville, MS. His daughter, Melissa Ann McDaniel-Homan of Ocean Springs, MS, carries forward his loving spirit, as do his cherished grandchildren: Adyson McKinley McDaniel, Chloe Violet Homan, Gavin Thomas Homan, and Heather Lashune Boyd. Each of these individuals benefited from his unconditional love and the values he instilled in them.
Malcolm was also fortunate to have a special friend, Carol Morse, whose companionship brought joy to his life. Though he may have left this world, his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing his journey.
