Margaret Lynn Jones Blocker

Margaret Lynn Jones Blocker of Benoit, MS, was called home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2023 at her home. A visitation honoring her life will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 in the Benoit Union Church from 12-1pm with a Celebration of Life Service held at 1:00P.M. Graveside will follow in the Beulah Cemetery. 

Margaret was born October 26, 1954, at Fort Bragg, NC, to Dr. Keith and Eleanor Jones. After living in Ames, Iowa, and Ithaca, NY, she moved with her family at the age of 7 to Delta and Pine Land Company, Scott, MS. She attended Benoit School, graduated from Bayou Academy in 1972, and completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State University, Cleveland, MS, in 1976.Margaret married Morris Richie Blocker in December 1976, lived in Benoit, MS, and was a faithful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and daughter-in-law, sacrificially pouring herself out for the family she dearly loved. She served her community as a skilled, caring elementary education teacher for 45 years, having taught at Ray Brooks,O’Bannon, Rosedale elementary, and Bayou Academy. She loved Bayou Academy& MS State sports. Most importantly Margaret was a loving mother who adored her grandchildren. She was Faithful to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she worshipped and diligently served with the Body of Christ at Benoit Union Church.

Margaret is preceded in passing by her loving husband, Morris Richie, her mother, Elanor Jones, Mother & Father in law, Morris & Mildred Blocker.

She is survived by her father, Keith Richard Jones; her children Karen (Kevin)  Davis, Brent (Amber) Blocker, Brooke (Clay) Blocker Peeples; her siblings Beth (Scott) Jones Wiggins, Stan (Dianne) Jones, Kathie (Jack) Jones Glaze, and Daniel (Allie) Jones; and her grandchildren Karley Davis, Kael Davis, Kade Davis, Reid Blocker, Rylee Blocker, Rivers Blocker, Griffin Peeples, and Addison Peeples., sister in law, Suzanne(Mike) Zieman, Jenny(Joe) Cole, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Batson Children’s Hospital, and Zoe Ministries.
