Margaret McCain 'Rachel' Riley

Mrs. Margaret Rachel McCain Riley, 98, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at her home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Burd officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery. Mrs. Riley was born in Bellefontaine, MS on November 8, 1916, to Samuel Woodward McCain and Sarah Alda Shaw McCain. She obtained her teaching degree from Delta State Teachers College in 1942, and taught school until the 1960's. She also owned Boyle Ceramic Shop. Mrs. Riley was a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Circle at Delta State. Rachel loved to quilt, crochet, cross stitch, and make caramel cakes for everyone. She also loved to work in her flower beds and have a garden each year. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Woodward McCain and Sarah Alda Shaw McCain; grandson, Preston Utz; granddaughter, Margaret Utz; brothers, Dr. William D. McCain, Howard McCain, Walter McCain, Edward McCain, and Robert McCain; sister, Gladys Christopher; and son-in-law, Joe Gladden. Mrs. Riley is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Gladden of Cleveland, Martha Utz Fly of Boyle, and Nancy Junkin (Albert) of Merigold; grandchildren, Jenny Brackin (Joseph) of Cleveland, Rachael Foster (Bobby) of Boyle, Tara Herrin (David) of Boyle, and Matthew Junkin (Shannon) of Madison; great-grandchildren, Connor Brackin, Maddie Foster, Anna Chloe Foster, Presley Utz, Kasch Utz, Riley Edington, and Oliver Junkin; and sister, Daisy Beach (W.D.) of Cleveland. Special thanks to her sitters, Ella Klein, Freddet Walker, Starmeka Shepherd, and Roslind Bell. Pallbearers will be Gary Pongetti, Greg Jackson, Raymond Huerta, Joseph Brackin, Terry Clark, and Bobby Foster. In memory of Mrs. Riley, donations may be made to Morrison Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice.
