Marilyn Ables Castle, 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at her home in Goodman, MS. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home. A second visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Seneasha United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Seneasha United Methodist Church in Goodman, MS.
Marilyn was born on December 30, 1943 in Goodman, MS to the late Mr. Martin Levi Ables and Mrs. Virginia Burrell Ables. She grew up in Goodman where she graduated high school. She went on attend Holmes Community College. On June 25, 1967, she married the love of her life, Billy Castle at St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland, MS. Marilyn eventually moved on to Delta State University, where she received a master's degree. After brightening the young minds of many at Cleveland High School for thirty years, she made the decision to retire. Mrs. Marilyn came out of retirement to continue furthering the minds of the future for another six and a half years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, MS. She planted roots in Cleveland and loved tending to many plants with her husband, Billy. Most of all, Marilyn cherished every moment with her beloved family. Marilyn never met a stranger that she could not unite with in some way. She had a special ability to leave a smile on the face of anyone that she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin Levi and Virginia Burrell Ables; grandson, Addison David Sterling; and brother-in-laws, Charles E. Smith and Henry Lloyd.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Connie Kaye Castle of Cleveland, MS and Kimberly Castle Chisolm (Billy) of Skene, MS; son, Martin Rudolph Castle (Melissa) of Cleveland, MS; grandchildren, Cody Edward Sterling, Effie Faith Castle, Sevie Jane Castle, all of Cleveland, MS and Colton Levi Cooper, Clint Allan Cooper, Hunter Christian Hudson, all of Skene, MS; great-grandchildren, Mari-lynn Merritt Cooper and Collin Bryant Cooper; and her four sisters, Glenda Lawshe (William) of Goodman, MS, Mollie Smith (Charles) of Inverness, MS, Virginia Smith (Charles W.) of Cleveland, MS, and Frankie Ruth Lloyd (Henry) of Cleveland, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at Alzhimers.org.
