Marilyn Michael Ragan, 72, passed away on March 26 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee following a long illness. Visitation will take place at the Calvary Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Cleveland, Mississippi on March 28 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and March 29 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The funeral service will also be held at Calvary Episcopal Church on March 29 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Sylvia Czarnetzky and the Very Reverend Dr. Julia Moore officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, Mississippi, with Ray Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Ragan was the daughter of the late Dorothy Madison and Tobias Michael of Rosedale, Mississippi. After her graduation from Rosedale High School in 1959, she attended a two-year school, Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, finishing in 1961. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor's of Arts in education from the University of Mississippi in 1963. While at the university, she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.
She married Richard Henry Fenstermacher in 1963, who predeceased her in 1968. She later married Dr. Robert Taylor Ragan in 1972 and moved to Cleveland, Mississippi where she lived until the time of her death.
Remaining active with her sorority she served as president of the Bolivar County Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter for several years. Mrs. Ragan was a communicant of Calvary Episcopal Church and a member of the Episcopal Church Women. She was a member of the Mississippi Delta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Ragan was also a life member of the Cleveland Junior Auxiliary and served two terms as president of the Delta Home and Garden Club. She was a member of the Delta Debutante Club of Greenville, Mississippi. An active supporter of the arts, Mrs. Ragan served as a board member of the Janice Wyatt Summer Arts Program at Delta State University and as a patron of the Crosstie Arts Council, the Delta Arts Alliance, and the Bologna Performing Arts Center.
 
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Taylor Ragan; her brother, Lattimore Madison Michael; and five children: Robert Taylor Ragan Jr. and his wife Rita of Oxford Mississippi, Richard Fenstermacher Ragan and his wife Marcela Sandoval of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Melissa Fenstermacher Ragan Lessley and her husband John of Memphis, Tennessee, James Gantt Ragan of Memphis Tennessee, and Heather Ragan Sawyer of St. Augustine, Florida.
She was also the devoted grandmother of twelve grandchildren: Summer Rene Ragan Pelliatiere, Kaylee Nicole Ragan, Kathryn Ann Ragan, Zoey Sandoval Ragan, Tobias Carter Ragan, Emma Marilyn Ragan, John Gregory Lessley, Jr., Ragan Kathleen Lessley, Taylor Elaine Ragan, Ragan Elizabeth Sawyer, Rowan Caroline Sawyer, and James Walker Sawyer
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. James Armashaw, Mr. E.E. Caston, Dr. Culver Craddock, Mr. Edward Kossman, Mr. Ned Mitchell, Dr. Joe Glenn Peeler, Mr. Kirkham Povall, Mr. Michael Sanders, Dr. James Steen and Dr. Kent Wyatt
