Mary Arnola Long Fullen Turner, 89 ¾, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at her home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 20. 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 21, 2021, at Ray Funeral Home followed by interment at North Cleveland Cemetery on North Bayou Road. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Born on Tuesday, August 25, 1931, Mary was the eighth child of nine born to Marshall Arnold Long and Hester Azalea Limbaugh Long in the James Creek community in Bollinger County, Missouri. Her family moved to the Missouri boot-heel area when she was five, where she attended school at Bell City. Mary was baptized and added into the Church of Christ in 1951. She was armored with her faith and God's hand throughout her life. Mary was a member of the Bolivar Church or Christ. In 1955, Mary married Carl Verl "Buck" Fullen and moved to Longshot, Mississippi in Bolivar County. She was known as the "Mayor" of Longshot for the next 40 years mostly due to her wonderful optimism, always looking on the Brightside of life and her gentle way of always making her friends and neighbors laugh regardless of the circumstances. The community sign was recently renovated in her honor. Buck and Mary had four children. When Buck passed away, Mary met the man who would carry her through the next phase of her life. Mary married George T. Turner in 1993 and moved to Cleveland. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buck Fullen, her husband George Turner, all eight of her siblings, her son Monroe D. Fullen and her great granddaughter Audrey Katherine Davis. Mary is survived by her children, Candy Fullen Davis (Larry) of Longshot and Joy Fullen Hardin (Andy) of Atlanta and son C. Bruce Fullen of Longshot; seven grandchildren: Cassie Davis Foster (Aaron), Courtney Davis, Judd P. Davis (Kacie), Austin K. Davis (Meredith), G. Maxwell Hardin, Jana M. Nicholson, and Jacob B. Fullen (Preslea). Mary learned two weeks ago that she would be a great grandmother again in February 2022, to add to the 12 she already has: Gibson Foster, Turner Foster, Davis Foster, Lawson Foster, Caroline Davis, Amelia Davis, Walker Davis, Whalen Davis, Tindle Nicholson, Mary Clelon Davis and Holt Davis.
Mary will be missed by all who knew her. She would have wanted to remind you to wear red on a rainy day to be cheerful.
Pallbearers are: Chad Givens, Theatis Flakes, Max Hardin, Judd Davis, Austin Davis, and Jacob Fullen. Honorary pallbearers are her many friends from the Tuesday Night Pickers.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Bolivar Church of Christ, GTO Mexico Missions Fund. 65 Oakridge Boyle, MS 38730
