Mary Lee Canady Bassie, 88, of Gunnison, MS, passed away, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Cleveland Personal Care in Cleveland. Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Celebration of life service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow services in Shelby Cemetery.
Mrs. Bassie was born to Clagett Doyle Canady and Carrie Lillie Gibbs on May, 28, 1924 in Shaw, MS. She married Victor Albert Bassie in 1946 in Shaw, MS. Mrs. Bassie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rosedale, MS. She worked for the Naval Department during World War II, in Washington, D.C.. She was an assistant sales manager at AMPCO in Rosedale, MS. She was a sweet and loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clagett Doyle Canady and Carrie Lillie Gibbs Canady; husband, Victor Albert Bassie; children, five year old, Victor Bassie, Jr. and Lee Bassie.
Mrs. Bassie is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann Bassie Malone (Brian) of Collierville, TN, Bobby Bassie (Patti) of Fort Smith, AR, and Billy Bassie (Laura) Gunnison, MS; grandchildren, Chris Fava, Amy Brandenburg, Robin Velander, Jason Bassie, Matthew Bassie, Jeffery Bassie, Abby Bassie, Molly Bassie, and Libby Bassie; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Bramuchi of Shelby, MS
Pallbearers will be Jason Bassie, Matthew Bassie, Chris Fava, Jeffery Bassie, Bram Bramuchi and John David Bassie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Lee Bassie, John Raymond Bassie, Brian Malone, James Brady, John Conger and Huey Smith.
Special thank you to Cleveland Personal Care and Angel of Mercy Hospice Care for the extraordinary services to Mrs. Mary Lee Bassie, during her time of need. We thank you.
