Mary Crider Frey passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Bolivar Medical Center of Cleveland. Mary was born on January 31, 1923 to Dr. Maurice and Bessie Crider in Decaturville, TN. She was the youngest of three daughters. Mary graduated High School in Jackson, TN. She married Donald E. Frey, a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, in 1944 and they lived in Salt Lake City, UT.
In 1948 the couple moved to Cleveland, MS where they lived for the remainder of their years together. Mary worked for the MS Rice Growers Association and she was a strong supporter and member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Greater Cleveland. After her career with the Growers Association, Mary worked as a Secretary at Bolivar County Sherriff's office for several years.
Faith and family were central to Mary's life where she devoted much of her time to these callings. Mary was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and her strong sense of faith was evident to all who knew her. She was also a wonderful homemaker and mother.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Carolyn Frey of Lake Kiowa, Texas. She is also survived by two grandchildren and their families, Ryan, Stephanie and Wyatt Frey of Austin, Texas and Scott, Valeri and Victoria Wickersham of North Richland Hills, Texas.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Ray's Funeral Home, 206 Bishop Road, Cleveland, MS, on Saturday, November 24, 2012.. Visitation will begin at 11:00am and a celebration of life service officiated by Rev. Milton Burd will begin at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
We will miss you. We love you. You are our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, fighter and our hero. You have touched a place in so many hearts, and we will cherish you always.
