Mrs. Mary Katharine Flowers, 90, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Bolivar Medical Center Long Term Care. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Drew Cemetery with Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Mrs. Flowers was born in Rome, MS, on December 15, 1925, to Leslie Holder and Allie Hanks Holder. She married Edmund Z. Flowers on May 1, 1946, in Memphis, TN. She was a political leader in Pennsylvania and also owned and operated Mother Goose Nursery and took care of many children in the community for a great number of years.
She was the recipient of many awards, was a wonderful gardener, was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, and also acted as a Girl Scout leader. Most importantly, she dearly loved her family, her church, and the Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Z. Flowers; her parents, Leslie and Allie Holder; and her siblings, Carlas Leroy Holder, Sybil Holder Sibley, Farine Holder Howard, William Boyd Holder, and Lynda Sue Holder Swales. Mrs. Flowers is survived by her daughters, Arlene F. Dreher (Harvey) and Sherry F. Vance (Alton) both of Cleveland; grandsons, Rodney A. Vance of Collierville, TN, Michael D. Vance of Pearl, Greg G. Dreher (Candy) of Merigold, and Jeff A. Dreher (Wendy of Merigold; great-grandchildren, Mason B. Dreher, Colby A. Dreher, Jenny Grace Dreher, Michael R. Vance, and Helen Claire Vance; and sisters, Lorine Holder Cady of Southaven and Glenda Ellen Holder Criswell of Robinsonville. Pallbearers will be Rodney A. Vance, Michael D. Vance, Alton D. Vance, Greg G. Dreher, Jeff A. Dreher, and Harvey G. Dreher. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason B. Dreher, Colby A. Dreher, Jenny Grace Dreher, Michael R. Vance, and Helen Claire Vance. In memory of Mrs. Flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
