Mrs. Mary Ruth Miller, 89, of Drew, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Blanchard and Bro. Rick Milam officiating. Interment will be in Drew City Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born in Litton, MS on January 9, 1925, to Richard Curtis Murrell and Georgia May Gilmer Murrell. On November 25, 1943, she married Robert Frederick Miller in Cleveland, MS. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Benoit, was the first female truck driver for KLLM Inc. to drive 1,000,000 miles without an accident. She was known to all as Mama Miller to all of her friends. She was a wonderful care giver, as she gave her time and care to friends and family in their time of need. She touched the lives of each of her grandchildren at one point in their life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Curtis Murrell and Georgia May Gilmer Murrell; her husband, Robert Frederick Miller; and son, Michael Gwin Miller.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Richard Frederick Miller of Carrolton, MS; daughters, Martha Pate of Drew, MS and Katherine Sears of Gallman, MS; sister, Peggy Horton of Cleveland, MS; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Miller, Trent Miller, Tommy Pate, Michael Lamb, and Trey Sears. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Warren, Dr. Marlon Rico, Robert Pate, Tom Pate, and Dr. Lamberto Cause.
