Mrs. Mary Nell Stewart, 89, of Cleveland passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Indywood. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at Ray Funeral. Celebration of life services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Huber officiating. A second visitation will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, MS with graveside services will immediately following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart was born on April 30, 1924, in Water Valley to Thomas H. Myers and Eva Lois Gean. She graduated from Water Valley High School and went to Wood Junior College. She married Lawrence L. Stewart on January 21, 1945, in Bay St. Louis, MS. Together, they lived in Coldwater, MS and then in Shaw, MS where Lawrence taught and coached basketball at Shaw High School from 1950 to 1959. They then moved to Cleveland, MS where they raised their family. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She worked as an office manager at her husband's State Farm Insurance Company for 24 years. She was an avid swimmer and supporter of the Delta State University Athletic Program.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her children, Thomas R. Stewart (Julie) of Dyersburg, TN and Carolyn Hobbs (Johnny) of Merigold, MS; grandchildren, John David Stewart (Amber) of Atlanta, GA, Jeff Stewart of Southaven, MS, Jason Stewart of Southaven, MS, Laura Stewart of Hattiesburg, MS, Robert Faircloth of Alexanderia, LA, Jenna Faircloth of Nashville, TN, Janelle Douglas (Heath) of Greenville, MS and Tripp Hobbs of Cleveland, MS; great-grandchildren, Austin Stewart, Mason Stewart, Abbie Stewart, Noah Faircloth, Darby Douglas, and Parker Douglas; brother, Wesley R. Myers (Catherine) of Memphis, TN; and nieces and nephews, Katie Myers of Senatobia and Brad Myers of St. Louis, MO.
Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Kyle Smith, Brent Smith, Doug Pinkerton, Ronnie Mayers, and Bill Leforge. Honorary pallbearers will be Boo Ferris, Hugh Ellis Walker, Pete Walker, Kent Wyatt and David Gladden.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Indywood staff and Annette Williams for their loving support and care.
