Mrs. Mary Sue Mills Pearson of Cleveland, MS went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 28, 2021. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Brad Corbin will officiate. Interment will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Memorial Park Louisville, MS.
Sue was born September 28, 1929, to Hubert and Viola Mills in Byhalia, MS. Sue married James Pearson on July 5, 1953. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in Home Economics and later received a master’s degree in library science from Delta State University. She was the librarian at both Parks and Pearman Elementary Schools for forty years. Sue was a member of Cleveland Garden Club and Junior Auxiliary where she served as president. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she and Jimmy hosted some of the first organizational meetings in their living room. Sue loved the Ole Miss Rebels, gardening, and her church activities. Sue, known as SueSue to her grands and great grands, took great joy in spending time with and knowing all about her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their family activities. She was a sweet and caring friend who blessed many with her kindness.
She is predeceased by her parents, Hubert & Viola Mills; husband, James Pearson; sisters, Cornelia Cotton and Elizabeth Mills.
Sue is survived by her sons, Denton Pearson (Amy) of Millington, TN, Mark Pearson (Lees) of Aspen, CO, and John Pearson (Lynn) of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Anna Pearson Gresham (Thomas) of Dallas, TX, Grace Pearson Cause (Scott) of St. Louis, MO, Mary Page Contreras (Uziel) of Memphis, TN, James Pearson, Fairplay, CO, Melba Pearson Voskamp (Caleb) of Listowel, Ontario, Covington Pearson, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Hubert Pearson, of Aspen, CO; sister, Ruth Seyfert of Milwaukee, WI; great grandchildren, Caroline Greshan, George Greshan, and Emma Lause. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
